Scientists and Belief

David Masci

This interesting report provides a solid approach to the relationship between scientific practitioners and those that profess a theistic faith. The reported research shows that there is a significant difference in the level of religious belief between the general public and scientists. It also shows, however, that there is a large body of scientists who believe in God or “a universal spirit or higher power.” This study reveals that for many in the scientific community, there is no intolerable conflict between their profession and religious faith.
